Easy Peazy!!
This is a great product! So simple and easy to install and program. Just take care, the IR LED is a bit fragile so don’t force it.

Control any stereo
I bought the PAC Swi-X to run an aftermarket stereo on my Harley Davidson Electraglide. The Swi-X gives me the versatility to run almost any aftermarket radio on the market using infra-red remotes, and allow me the freedom to choose which commands I want to assign to the handlebar mounted switches.

The Swi-X is nothing more than a “learning” remote control, with a remote located infra-red transmitter. You wire it in, then teach it the commands from the hand held remote that comes with the aftermarket stereo.

The hardest part is wiring the resistors into the stock wiring harness. If you are not comfortable with a soldering gun/pen and 12 volt electrics, pay someone else to do it. I gave it four out of five stars only because the wiring is not for everyone.

PAC SWIX Does exactly what it says, but not for a novice install.
The Pac Swix interfaced with my JVC head unit brilliantly. It was a little tedious to program, but I got it the second time around. As far as a delay goes, it’s not really a constant delay. Sometimes you press the button and get an immediate response and sometimes you need to press the button once more because of a non responsive press. The only reason that I did not give it 5 stars is because there is a difference between the stock headunit’s response and the aftermarket’s. It really does give you flexibility as far as programming goes since you can assign a button a function of your choice. Simple three wire hookup to my Mercury was nice too. I say if you like your steering wheel controls and you have a JVC, Alpine, or other compatible unit, then you need this little box for your install.

Great concept - poor execution
I purchased this item at Wal-mart while on a business trip. I left my charger for my GPS at home and the GPS uses a mini-usb charging port. It worked perfectly for the GPS which draws a very small amount of power. I then used it with my laptop which uses a 70 watt adapter, well below the rated 140 watts. The unit fried in less than an hour. It burned out two fuses in my car. I foolishly tried it in a second cigarette outlet after it blew the fuse in the first one.

The unit smelled of burned electrical circuitry. I thought that perhaps I just got a defective unit until I read a review on Amazon about another Powerline brand inverter where the customer had the same experience with two units.

The unit is very compact and light. It easily fits into my computer bag and is 1/3 or less the weight of the typical converter. In that respect the unit is perfect but don’t expect it to last long running a laptop. If they make it more durable for a laptop or any device pulling over 50 watts, this would be a great item.

Best DC Adapter!!!
Works great, powers whatever. The fan built-in keeps it cool and working strong. The fan noise can get a little high when drawing power from both ports, but it’s worth it!
